312-DRY-TOFU - Free-form Question, Comment, Improvisation Voicemail Line

Here is another installment of the free-form question, comment and improvisational voicemail art project, 312-DRY-TOFU (312-379-8638). Give us a call to share your perspective on anything and everything! Tell us about your day, improvise a monologue about a local event, or sing us a song. If it can be captured on the phone, we want to hear it.

In this episode we hear a meta poem, a story about pistol whipping voices, mayonnaise on a cat and the procrastination in dealing with it, a mother calling about their child’s lack of a promotion and smoking about around a babies, and a (clipped, talk quieter) radio play mystery adventure that was abruptly cut off.

Political Audio Experiment

The Lafayette City Council’s recent (April 7th) public meeting had some interesting quotes hidden within the over two and half hours of audio. The meeting was already charged up due to the controversial smoking ban ordinance on the table. I highly recommend listening to the entire thing if you want to get a feel for city government. The file can be downloaded on the city’s web site.

After talking with some friends, we decided to take a few of those clips and play around with Wolfram’s Music Generator to make some nice hip-hop music. We present the Would You Clean up Your Language Medley.

The Altria Group, Inc. commissioned the Media Collective to write something in response to “What happens if you stop smoking now?”

It was read at the Vienna Open Mic that happens every Tuesday from 9PM – 11PM. Come down, enjoy, and perform.
