Three Pillars of Comedy Documentation and Interview

Three Pillars of Comedy Purdue University April 3rd, 2009 Flyer

We attended the three pillars of comedy put on by the Purdue improv group, The Crazy Monkeys. The night consisted of three different types of comedy: short form, long form, and sketch. The Ship of Fools, The Crazy Monkeys, and the University tWits performed each of these styles respectively.

We recorded the introduction to night given by Shauvon at Hot Box Pizza, followed by Andrew’s warm-up of the crowd before the Ship of Fools came out on stage.

We missed the intro to the Crazy Monkey’s show at Greyhouse so we were unable to capture that audio.

Before the third installment of this great event started, I managed to snag an interview with Logan Lampton, a member of the Crazy Monkeys. We talked about the night, how he become a member, and the process of animating imaginary people.

And, like the idiots we are, nothing of the University tWits was recorded. So there you have it, an incomplete documentation of the nights events. Enjoy!

Downtown Lafayette Gallery Walk Audio Collage

Picture from homeofpurdue.com

We took our recorder to the gallery walk last night and recorded some of the street performers. If you have never been on a Gallery Walk, you should. It’s a great time to see local art exhibits, enjoy some live music, drink free wine and eat some free food. A very enjoyable time.

The flyer can be downloaded from the Tippecanoe Arts Federation website.

Taking Indiana Very Seriously

While walking through the local farmer’s market and purchasing some lovely produce from the Cooley Family Farm, among other vendors, we were approached by Obama supporter wanting to know if everyone in our party was registered to vote. After telling her that we have been registered voters for a number of years, she asked if we knew about the Obama regional office opening at 514 Main St. We had heard about it, we told her. She then asked if we knew about the opening reception taking place at 1PM today, with former US Senator Birch Bayh as a guest speaker. That we hadn’t heard about, so we took a flyer and told her we would be there. We finished our shopping and went home.

When it was time to go, I headed towards downtown Lafayette. I parked the car in the 5th street garage and walked over to the address, 514 Main St. The office was setup in a decent size space, easily accommodating those that were in attendance. By the time the speakers started, the place was packed with local officials, young Obama supporters outfitted in the various Obama clothing lines, and several people draped in the campaign garb for local people running.

As usual, I recorded the whole thing. Below you will find MP3s of the entire speech, and each speaker’s speech as its own separate file. Further down, we included a short list of things we learned from attending this event. Enjoy listening to your local politicians.

Lafayette Food Co-Op Interview

At the first Farmers’ Market of the year, May 1st, we ran into some of the people doing surveys and interviews about starting a Lafayette Food Co-Op. We decided to do an interview ourselves. We talked to Cody, who is leading the way with this project.

It turns out there used to be one here for thirty years that finally died in the mid-90s. It’s time to bring this idea back to downtown Lafayette. If anyone has a inexpensive place that would need a little fixing up, please contact them!

News Channel Internet – Life Chain Interviews

Something else finally broke in the Chauncey area. This time with a political and religious bent. Luckily The Media Collective was there to cover it.

Perhaps you have seen the people standing along State Road 26 holding signs in protest of abortion. Maybe you tried to engage them in conversation. Maybe some of you yelled your own slogans from your cars. We went out and asked them Who-What-Where-When-Why-How.
